Drawing Coloring Animestyle Characters Chyan Class File

Chyan’s

For a character-focused class like , the story should emphasize "Character Charm" —the unique cuteness or coolness that makes a character memorable. A great way to build this story is through a three-stage project that follows the curriculum’s focus on silhouettes, expressions, and color atmosphere. The Story Idea: "The Weaver of Forgotten Tints"

We borrow from cinematography:

  • A pencil (#2)
  • Eraser
  • Markers or colored pencils
  • Paper (preferably smooth)
  • The Color Thief: Take a screenshot of your favorite anime (e.g., Jujutsu Kaisen or Spy x Family). Use the Eyedropper tool to study where the shadows are. Map them out.
  • The Mirror Flip: Flip your canvas horizontally every 5 minutes. This resets your brain and reveals anatomy errors.
  • Limited Palette Challenge: Use only 4 colors (Black, White, Red, Blue). Create a full character. This forces you to rely on value (light/dark) rather than hue.
