Reviving the Classics: VCDS ATmega162 Reflash in 2021 & Beyond

1. Remove power from the VCDS interface.
2. Connect AVR programmer to the ISP header (match MISO/MOSI/SCK/RESET/VCC/GND).
3. Apply power to the board (some programmers supply power).
4. Verify connectivity with avrdude:
   • Hardware: VCDS clone cable (Hex-USB Rev. C or Hex-V2), AVR ISP programmer (USBasp is common), female-to-female Dupont wires.
   • Software: AVRDUDE (Windows command line), a hex editor (HxD), and a verified 2021-compatible firmware dump.
   • Tools: Soldering iron (if no ISP header is populated), multimeter.
